I am a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher (ESR) involved in ITN-STROMA FP7 project in INSERM U917 unit under the supervision of Prof. Karin Tarte. Initially, I graduated with a B.Sc Biotechnology (DAVV University, Indore), MSc Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (Manipal University) from India and then Pre-doctoral in Bio-medical Science from K. U. Leuven, Belgium. From my MSc I was involved in Cancer research which inspired me to pursue my doctorate in the same field.
In the lab we are trying to understand the impact of the microenvironment in Follicular Lymphoma (FL) pathogenesis. We have previously demonstrated that upon TNF/LT treatment stromal cells extracted from bone marrow and tonsil samples can differentiate into lymph node stromal cells (FRC like cells) which are subsequently capable of sustaining follicular lymphoma B-cell growth (Ame-Thomas et al., 2007). Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs) treated with TNF/LT also share the similarity to FL-MSCs (Guilloton et al., 2012). Moreover we have no information about the stroma modification in malignant setting (in FL) so my aim is to explore what are the factors involved in stroma modification, what are the possible molecular mechanisms involved and finally how this modified stroma affects the malignant B-cell behavior. to study this I am using the in-vitro differentiation model and in-situ staining on FL-patient samples.
