As a student originally from the UK, I initially graduated with a BSc Biomedical Science from Aston University, Birmingham which subsequently inspired me to commence an MSc Molecular Pathology and Toxicology at The University of Leicester.
My motivations for commencing a PhD in Rennes stemmed from wanting to experience scientific research outside of the UK. As a result of this, I am currently in the first year of my PhD at INSERM U917 studying under the supervision of Dr Céline Delaloy in the area of normal and pathological B cell differentiation.
The terminal differentiation of B lymphocytes into plasmocytes involves a well-established transcription factor network however the temporal dynamics of the signaling pathways regulating this network during the germinal center reaction remain poorly defined. Therefore, the primary objective of my PhD is to understand the role of these pathways with specific focus on IL-2 induced plasma cell differentiation via the MAPK/ERK pathway and it’s potential contribution towards Lymphomagenesis.
